Can I apply for a 2006 H1B Petition while 2005 H1B stamping is pending?

Hi Veena,
Can you please give some inputs on this?.

One employer had filed a H1B petition in 2005 and I have attended the Visa interview at chennai Consulate on Dec-08-2005.I was issues 221(g) asking for documents like 1.) complete project description 2.) other projects handled by this employer 3.) Marketing Analysis of the product/project.I have informed the same to my employer.But, he is not responding to me and not sending me those documents eventhough almost 4 1/2 months have passed by.

As the new H1 cycle has opened on April-01-2006, Can I apply for a new H1B petition even my 2005 H1B visa issuance is pending?.What are the implications.?.

Also, please let me know if there is a way to cancel my 2005 H1B petition with the chennai consulate or INS by explaining the situation?.

Hi,
Can somebody please address my query?.

Can I apply for a new H1B visa petition (for the new quota started on april'2006, while a previous H1B stamping is pending with 221(g)?.I have an approved petition from 2005 quota and attended the H1B visa interview at chennai consulate in Dec'2005 and the consular officer issued me a 221(g) asking for docs like marketing analysis etc...But the employer has not been responding .SO, can I go ahead and apply for a new H1B petition in this year's quota even though my previous H1B staping is pending?.
