Hi!

My husband is currently working in the US on L1B visa and the visa expires in August 2018. His current employer applied for H1B this year and he has been selected in the lottery process.I have an L2 EAD and recently joined a software firm.

Does my husband's visa status automatically goes from L1 to H1 from October 2017 thus making me ineligible to work?

If his employer applied for Change of Status then his status will change to H1 on October 1. Please note that you will no longer be on L2 status starting October 1.
