My wife is currently on a H4 visa & is applying for H1 this year. My employer is offering me a Green Card sponsorship (State Illinois). I have been hearing that if I go for my GC now (while my wife is on H4), her status will be switched back to H4 until some stage of GC. This would mean that she cannot work another couple of years! Would it be a better option to wait until her H1 is approved & then file GC? I would appreciate if somone can shed more light/direction on this issue. Thanks for your time & help!

Your wife can be on H1 visa while your GC is in process and she still would be inclued as dependent in the GC. -

Status does not matter. She can be on H4 or H1.Comment
