H1B still valid

Info:

- Got my H1B with the lottery in 2015.
- While on E2 I left the US in april 2016
- Never exited and re-entered the US to activate my H1B, so basically I don't have any day on my H1B
- Re-entered the US in Sept 2016 with a F1 visa and finishing my MBA


Question:

- During my job interviews I am "selling" that I still have the H1B visa. It is actually still valid untill end of 2016. What I want to know is: can a company actually hire and use my old H1B even if I don't work for that company anymore?

If you did get your H1 in 2015 (not just picked in the lottery), then a company can file a new cap exempt H1 for you, since you are within the 6 yr. window.
