  • 221g for fingerprinting

    Hi all,
I came to USA in 2011 on H1b. I vaguely remember visa officer taking my fingerprints before my visa interview (same day appointment). I heard things changed few years back where first we’ve to take separate biometric appointment and then we can go for interview next day. I got my visa stamped in 2013 through dropbox (IWP – no fingerprinting done). This year I’m planning to get my visa stamped again through dropbox (My current visa was valid till SEP 2016 so planning to travel in Aug 2017 as it’s within 1 year of visa expiration).
    Here are my questions:
    1. What’s the difference between new Biometrics appointment vs fingerprinting done in 2011? Is it same thing just now we need a separate appointment for it?
    2. Do I fall in high risk category of getting 221 for biometrics as my last fingerprinting was done in 2011?
    3. In my case is it more advisable to go for in person interview vs dropbox?

    Looking forward to your resposes!
