Help on Information required to get H1B visa appointment

Can anyone please tell me what all information (apart from HDFC code and EAC#) is required for me to get H1B visa interview appointment at Chennai consulate?

u need 2 fill up ds-156, 157 forms online.
and u have to give info about ur petitioner and ur h1b approval number
and u have to choose the date which is available

Hello All,
I also agree that for applying for H1B we need the approval number. (petition number). My question is that how different is petition number from the receipt number. I had a prior H1 which is no longer valid. In that when i see i just see a single number as the receipt number.

so does this not mean that receipt number and aproval number is same? If ur H1b is approved then we call this approval/petition number.

Please clarify senior members of the group. This is very urgnet.

Hi,
Do not you think these documents are needed only if you go to consulate for interview? Whenyou take an appointment through vfs site and you have the receipt number so cannot you go ahead and take an appointment even before your H1 approval comes?
