  • H1B Visa stamping at Consulate other than what mentioned in I797

    Hi Friends,

    Need your help.

I am currently in Vancouver, Canada under work permit. I got my H1B visa (non-CAP) petition got approved. Currently, applying for visa stamping. Looking at the wait times for visa interview appointments, it looks like Vancouver US consulate has at least 1 month of wait period (wasn't that bad earlier but probably due to govt shutdown) while Calgary (about 2 hours by flight from Vancouver) has only 3 days. Given that my approved i797 mentions Vancouver as Consulate, would it be risky to schedule my interview at Calgary US Consulate? Appreciate your advise on my case.

Yes, you can. I just got my visa stamping done at US Consulate Tijuana in Mexico even through my I-797 had the name of US Consulate Chennai.
