H1 Span for 6 years

I got my H1 petition approved in Dec'03 but came to US in Jan'06 for the first time. The 6 year span for H1 does it start from the day you get your petition or the day you enter US?

I guess it starts from the year the H1 got approved. It doesnot matter whether u come to US on not, the count will be from that fiscal year.

Hi Aam, i guess you are wrong. RK is correct, the H1 span starts the day you enter US. So if your H1 petition is about to expire, ask your company Lawyer to renew it.

h1 & 6 years or even more

absolutely right, the h1 period starts from the day you landed in the country
also, you can apply for (& mostly get) an extension for 1 year beyond the six year limit
this needs to be done each year until you get your gc or you return to your country of origin
