can Dependent enter US before H1 holder

Hi All,

Can a depenedent with H4 Visa enter US before H1 holder enters. For example a wife with H4 wants enter in to US on Aug 15th where as husband with H1 would entering US only on 20th august (due to airline tickets issue). is that possible or dependant has to enter only after H1 holder enters US.

Whom dependent is going to stay with? I guess, if it is very first entry in USA, then, it is advisable to travel together.
