SSN Application

Hello~

If someone can answer this, I will be grateful.

My wife is employed by Consultant X and she has been placed at a Client Y. She has just got her H1B petition approved (her placement was done after H1B approval).

Application for SSN has been done and we are waiting for that.

Can she start working at the client site without SSN or does she have to wait till she gets her SSN.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If the client asks for a social security number then you need to wait for it (smaller clients dont care about it). If they dont ask for it, talk to the consulting company and ask them to pay her only after the SSN comes through. At that time they can give her a sign-on bonus for the time she worked without the SSN.
