H1 Validity? No job almost a year! Please help!

I have a messed up life; Please advise!

I recenlty got married & brought my husband to US on H4 dependent visa less than year back; Also managed to get his H1 visa approval shortly through these Indian 'recruiters' (H1 but no job); Its almost been a year, he has not worked a signgle day. He is that 'unemployed Do-nothing' type. His H1was approved starting January 2006. My question is: now that he hasn't worked all for almost a year; has he lost his validity of H1? Or can he still get a job & then try to get his H1 stamping done to keep the H1 valid? Please help..

They have a short period of time to find a new job, and have it approved by the BCIS. Barring that, the person needs to depart the United States.
