H1 Status - Travel to Hawaii - Please clarify

Hi,

Myself and my husband are planning to travel to Hawaii this month end. We both are in H1. My husband's H1 got expired last month and he has his new approval papers till 2009 in his hand. But his current visa and I-94 on passport is expired.

Can we travel to Hawaii and come back? I know that Hawaii is also part of USA, but little confused whether they would check our visa status on passport?

Can someone please clarify?

Hawaii is a state of US. It is a completely domestic travel.

It is like traveling from Illinois to Ohio or Masschusetts to Florida. No difference if you are traveling to Hawaii just because it is an island.
