H1 under adminstrative process, Can I apply B1

Hi,

In May 2005, I went for H1 stamping @ chennai consulate, they gave 221(g) and they said, petition require adminstrative process. Still I havn't get any update from consulate.

My current employer need to send me US on B1 visa.
Can I take appointment and attend for B1 @ chennai consulate?

---- YES, if they ask you about the status of the previous application for H1, you have to provide a convincing answer
