L1B to H1B - Please advise

Hi,

I'm currently on L1B for the past two years and planning to apply for H1B.
I've few queries and need all of your adivse.

1. How many years would i get H1b petition? 4 years or 6 years?
2. Can i jump on L1 to H1 in october without going back to india and getting stamped on H1?

H and L visa are counted together so you will get 4 additional years.

If a person has maintained valid visa status during the stay in US, change of status without leaving the country is possible.
