Successfull H1/H4 Visa
Dear Friends,
Just wanted to share my experience with Visa stamping which was scheduled on 17-Nov-06 at 10:00 am in Mumbai Consulate.
Please make sure you do not carry anything else other than documents when you are entering Visa office otherwise you will have come out again and again to keep things out and waste time.
I had gone with my wife and my son for the visa. Always better to have H4 done with you as it is less hasle later.
Here is the Q&A session with visa officer.
VO: Please come in.
Me: Good morning.
VO: Have you been living in US before?
Me: No.
VO: So your 1st time?
Me: Yes.
VO: What is the name of your current company?
ME : XYZ company.
VO: She passes me back my I-797 form and says I'll need to show this when I'm crossing US borders.
Me: OK Mam.
VO: So what qualifies you to go to US?
Me : I have got X no. of years of experience in IT and I have got an offer from ABC company.
VO: So must be good company to work with then?
ME: Yes mam.
VO: she checks and scans DS forms of mine and my family and says all form looks ok.
VO: OK you are all set to go, your VISA has been issued and you will get your passport with stamping in 3 days.
ME: Thanks a lot and have a good day.
No document other than I-797 was checked.
All it takes is confidence and make sure you have all the documents in place.
