Spouse Last Name

Hi,

I am in USA on my H1 Visa. I will be getting married in the month of April. I am planning to bring my spouse on H4. I am wondering what are the requirements regarding the last name of the spouse. My spouse already has a passport. But the last name of my spouse will be changed after the marraige. Will the passport needs to be changed with the correct last name after the marraige? Also, does my passport need to have her name as spouse after the marraige? Please advise.

Hi,

Your wife's name can be changed in the passport after the marriage by submitting the marriage certificate. There should not be any problem for the Visa if this is done.

If you don't change your wife last name also.. NO PROBLEMS...

If you want to change in your wife's passport. You can do that no issues.. either way no problems..
