passport renewal -H1B status

Hi,
My passport expires in less than 6 months and I need to send the documents for renewal. My US visa stamp and the I-94 on my passport expired . I have new approval notice which is till 2010.
where can i do my passport renewal and how can i get all information like fees/forms and documents list and all? If you have any experiences to share, I would appreciate the information.

I believe you can do passport renewal at the closest Indian embassy.
