H1 revalidation.

My H1 Visa on Passport expired on Oct 2003. letz say I have got my next h1 extension approval, do I need to get h1 visa revalidation done by oct 2004 ? my understanding was that, we should new visa stamped on the passport within one year of original visa expiration. is it correct ?

I appreciate your response. I need your valuable suggestion.
