Many SAP professionals from the US are moving to India because companies there are hiring e.g. IBM, Deloitte, Satyam. These companies will definitely send you to the US on projects. Its less stressful to come through them rather than join a small consulting company in the US and wait for projects.

SAP work is being done for real cheap billing rates offshore and by offshore companies and only high profile SAP consultants are making money now in US. Beginners do not hold much ground these days.
