H1 to H1 visa..need help

Actually Iam on dependent visa and my visa got expired in sep 2007 ,but my husband is still on status..
now i am planning to apply for h1 ..does my visa page which has expired date is vallid or not?
does i need to apply for h4 extension also which v did not?

does v need to go to stamping now..will it be ok ..
