Pls suggest H1 or COS

Hi All,

I have got H1 stamped very recently after 221(g) and my wife got H4 also at the same time.

My wife is also having an approved H1(after 2 queries before approval) with the same company i have my H1.

I am planning to take my wife on H4 and later apply for COS to H1 after landing in US. Now i need clarifications regarding:

1. What challenges will we face in applying COS and how much time it will take
2. Wht is the cost involved in applying for COS, generally who will take care of this, either employer or applicant
3. Which one is preferred - taking H1 for my wife or applying for COS in US, the only reason i am not planning for H1 stamping for my wife here in india is if we get 221(g), we need to wait for more 2 to 3 months for the decision?

Please help me in handling the situation better.

1. None if you are in valid status
2. I129 amendment has to be filed. The employee can legally pay for it.
3. No preference as COS could take 2-4 months as well.
