H4 Medical Practitioner

My wife is on H4 visa. She was working as Doctor in India. Now she wants to take up USMLE and seek employment in USA.

Kindly request your advise whether she has to convert to H1 ? or what visa she needs to work as Doctor in USA after completing USMLE.

Hospitals hire people for medical school residency study on a H1b that is cap exempt for many schools. They can also use J1 visa. She can change status after joining residency and the hospital/university will take care of it and can be applied anytime as it is not subject to cap (for many schools)
