Hi,
I'm a french citizen, and I used to have a J1 visa until last march. I am now in US on a visa waiver as a tourist.
I got a job and they are currently applying for a H1B visa, I should get the paperwork by early july.
I wanted to get my H1B stamped in Canada, in Montreal, but on the consulate website they say that, if I'm present in US on a visa waiver, it is "strongly advised" to get the visa stamped in my own country, i.e. France.
Does anyone have any experience about this? Especially french people? What do they mean by "strongly advised"? Is it frequent that they refuse to stamp the visa?
