extended H1B visa stamping before current visa expiration

Hello All,

I have applied for my H1B extension. The start date is Oct 2008. My current H1B is valid till sept 2008

1) If I leave US in August 08 for a week with new H1B approval( assuming I will get my approval in July), is it necessary for me to get my new H1B stamped?

2) Can I reenter US without getting my new visa stamped as my current H1B will still be valid in August 08.?

2. Yes. You need to show the extension approval notice at POE to get the I-94 validity till end of your petition. Otherwise, your I-94 will expire in Sept 2008.
