  • How Can I Bring Over My Girlfriend - Plis To Help

    Issue
    ====
    I am an Indian citizen and hold a H1-B visa. I arrived into the US for
    the first time on Jan 30, 2001. I want to bring over my girlfriend from
    India to the US as soon as possible. Eventually we plan to get married.
    I think there are three ways in which I can do it ( I want to figure out
    which one is the Best):

    1) Bring her over on visitors visa (B2), get married to her in the US
    and then (a) apply for H4 in the US (b) go back to India and apply for
    H4
    2) Bring her over on visitors visa to the US, go back to india within
    six months, get married in India and apply for H4 in India
    3)Not bring her to US as of now. Go to India (which can be after 4-5
    months only) marry her and get H4 in India

    I am interested in bring her over as soon as possible to the US, at the
    same time I do not want to jeopardise her chances of getting H4 later.
    Should I wait and go with option 3? or Can I go ahead with option 1 or
    2? Is there anyother way?

    What do you think is her probability of getting a visitors visa? If we
    get her on visitor's visa, should we state clearly that we intend to get
    married?

    What supporting documents will I need to bring her on a visitor's visa?

    Additional Info On Myself
    ==================
    1. I have just moved to the US (1 month ago) so I do not have a big
    bank balance (how much would be enough to show that I can support her?)
    Will a letter from my employer do?
    2. I do have a rented apartment and couple of US credit cards

    Additional Info On the Person I want to bring as a visitor
    ======================================
    0. She is single and is an Indian citizen
    1. She is a postgraduate in Geology
    2. She just started working for a public sector bank in January 2001

    4. She has never been to the US before

    I would be glad if you can help me sort this out. Please let me know if
    you need any additional information.
