Travel question "during" L1 to H1

Am going through a tough time understanding things here in US

Am a Indian. Have not applied for GC yet.
Am in L1 visa. Have applied for H1 and have also got that approved this year (2008).
My L1 is valid till 2010 and I believe, I can start working in H1 anytime after october 2008.

Would want to visit India, before getting into H1.

Can you please confirm:-
a) if its okay to travel to India at this time of the year, in L1?
b) Can I travel back to USA:
b1) without any problems?
b2) without doing H1 Stamping ?
c) Can my wife travel without me and also come back in L2 safely (without problems) ?

My L1 is valid till 2010 and I believe, I can start working in H1 anytime after october 2008. No, you HAVE TO start working for H1 employer from 01OCT if it was a COS. You dont have options or choice except if you go out of US before that.

Any time is fine to travel to india, weather is getting better now COS gets abandoned if you go before 01OCT.
b) Can I travel back to USA:
b1) without any problems?
Depends if you do things right.
b2) without doing H1 Stamping ?
Yes, if you plan to work for L1 employer.
c) Can my wife travel without me and also come back in L2 safely (without problems) ?
Only if you are maintaining in L1 status throughout.
