H1 Stamping mandatory?

Hi guys,

I am currently in USA working on a H1 visa. I have the I797 approval form and will be visiting India next month for a vacation.

Is it mandatory for me to schedule a visa stamping appointment in India or can I just return with the I797 again? I already have a H1 stamped on my passport but it happens to be of my ex employer.

Really appreciate your help on this. Thanks!

If the visa is valid, you do not need a new visa.

Which visa should be valid -
1. ex employer's stamped visa
OR
2. I797 of my current employer?
