Question on H1 documents @ chennai

From the link : https://www.immihelp.com/h1-visa-stamping-documents/ , I see that the birth certificate is not required. I overheard that it might be one of the documents needed. Is there any chance that VO might ask for it?? I don't have it ready and might need substantial time to produce it. Anyone ever heard of this weird thing?? Please help...
