  • My wife is going for her H4 extenstion @ Chennai consulate. Question on PIMS.

My wife and my self are both in U.S right now and she is planning to go to India on vacation in next month and then going to Chennai consulate for her
H4 Visa extension and she has few questions on this.

Does she need to send the below documents to consulate via VFS before her interview? If so, how many days ahead she needs to send them? I don't have any idea on this as my company took care of all these things for my first H4B.

DS-156 in original signed and with photo.

    DS-157 in original.

Original BEP letter signed by the authorized signatory.

Photocopy of the Notice of action (Form I-797).

Photocopy of passport data pages (1st and last page).

Photocopy of the passport pages bearing “Observation” or “Remarks”.

    Photocopy of Interview appointment letter.

Original HDFC fee receipts (Yellow copy).

Does she need to do any thing for PIMS?. In U.S, we need to send the petion details and documents to consulate officer by email. I don't know about the process @ Chennai consulate.

    Thanks alot for your help.

PIMS is NOT a show stopper by any means. It is a delay of 2-4 days only. All PIMS verification needs is the I797. Most cases are already in the system and result in no delays.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
