Job market in US ??!!

Hi,
This forum has been really helpful to me and I am sure to many others. Keep up the good work...

My question was regarding the job market in US....I have my appointment with the consulate this month for H1B visa stamping....
I have a good job here in India and my employer who applied for my H1B visa is a consulting company back in US & he has to look for a job for me once i get there....

Is this a good time to quit the job here in India & go to US rightaway taking into account the job market there? Would it be a big risk?

Any inputs would be highly appreciated......

Situation is very bad now and will continue to be so into next year as well. If you have a lucrative job overseas, it would be foolish to resign and come over to US at this time and sit without a project and perhaps not get paid which will make you go out of status.
