Work on H1B and **** exp.

Hello,

I have just 5 months of work exp in India. I got my H1 filed through a consultant in the US and I got an approved H1B visa.
The consultant has asked me to add 6 years of work exp inmy resume. He says if I show less than 5 then I'll not get a job.

I heard most of the people who are from India show 6 - 10 years of work exp.

Is this true ? Will USCIS or any other authority take any action against me ?
How does this work ?

Resume faking is bad and could get back fired due to background checks, interviews etc.

No, most of them do not and generalizing this on people is bad. Some consulting companies force the people to do so which is bad.
