  • Passport Lamination,H1 stamping and India Travel

    Hi,

The lamination on the lower Picture page of my Passport has come out. And I am traveling to India in 2 weeks now.

    My concerns are:

    1. Is it considered damaged?
    2. Will I have to get a new one?
    3. I am planning to go for Visa Stamping on my entry to India.
    4. Will this state of my passport be a problem.
    5. Is there an immediate fix for this now?

    Please help me!
    Thanks in Advance

    Under the current ...

... stringent security and fraud checks, yes your passport is considered damaged.

You will most probably not get a visa until you get a new passport.

Apply for a new passport in the US and postpone you trip.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

        Thanks for the exceptional advices.

I happened to Visit Indian Embassy, and they did look into my passport.
        And later laminated it.

        Now its crisp as new

        Thanks one and all

          That's great ...

... it was indeed a good move by the Embassy.

Thank you for taking the time out to let us and everybody here know about this excellent resolution.

          Enjoy your vacation.

            Thanks for the wishes
I bet there must be many having this kinda trivial yet complicated lamination issues. I hope my example should help them all, instead of Panicking like I did.

This is good, never thought Indian government agency could act in such a practical way. They used to be gods of red-taping, bureaucracy and protocol.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

                    quick fix

                    @awerty,

you were lucky else you would not be bragging here. It is a criminal offense to temper with your passport. If US officials were little alert then you would have come to known.
I had also managed to come to the US with damaged passport. Infact, VO had pointed it out to me that my passport is damaged. But anyway, he gave me visa and told me to get it fixed ASAP. I didn't but I had no issue at PoE.
Now, when I look back, I feel that I was stupid.
The problem is that in India we all have careless attitude towards such issues so we don't pay much attention. Once caught in the web, we realize how stupid we were.

You get your passport in a week time in India.

                    Ajay
