Change of status in grace period after OPT expires

Greetings Reader,

My current 12 month OPT expires on 13th JAN 2009. I am not sure for additional 17 months OPT extension. I heard there is 60 months grace period after OPT expires. Can I apply to new school, get admission, change my SEVIS to new school and again be in F1 status in that grace period?
