Am I on L1 or H1?

I am working with employer X on L1 and L1 is valid for another year(sep 09).
I also got my H1 approved through COS in Oct 2008 with emplyer Y(with new I94 refleting comp Y)
But I continued to work with emplyer X on L1 since October.

1.Am I on H1 or L1 currently?

2.If I am on H1, am I out of status since I never started working with emplyer Y on my H1.

3.can i go out of US and come back on L1 again?

Please give me your suggestions.

you are illegally working on L1 post Oct 01 2008. You should be working on H1. Now u are already Out of status of H1.
U are in great danger now.
