  • Laid off from H1-B sponsor

If one's H-1B's 6th year expiration is Nov this year, what other visa status is available to legally stay in the state once laid off from H-1B sponsor?

What's pros and cons of F-1B visa VS B-2 visa status?

As of March, there are only about 7 month left on H-1B's 6 year max.
If one changes status to either B-2 or F-1, can the person change the status back to H-1B while still in the state?

Can the 6 year clock be reset after changing status to B-2 or F-1 while in the US?

Or does the person has to go out of country? If so, how long one has to be out of state to start off with new H-1B's 6 year frame?

    Thank you.

---- At best you can get onto F1 or B2 visa and continue. However, to change back to H1 you have to leave the US and stay outside for a period of 1 year. If you have your labor applied and other aspects of your GC are in process then it is a different issue.
