Having L1 and now planning to goto H4

I am having L1B visa now but I am planning to go for H4 visa to join back my husband in US.

1. Will my L1B be cancelled if the H4 is approved in the interview?
2. My husband's H1B is there till aug-10th 2009 only. If I go for interview now, would there be any issues with some time period?

Anyone from Hyderabad, can you tell me on the approval of visa, can we collect the passport on the same day at the consulate?

1. Depends on the VO. They may or may not cancel it.
2. The visa will be issued only till the date of the H1b approval or I797. It is recommended that your husband apply for a premium process H1b extension and get an approval past Aug for you to get a longer term visa.

Yes, it would be better to get the extention and then apply. But due to some other reasons we are having appointment now itself for my H4.

My other question would be - I am working in a company and the same is mentioned in my 156 form also. But after getting visa, I would be resigning my company....(resignation delayed due to sis marriage on may 12th). Will the VO ask for any leave approval from my company? Is it OK if I say that I want to resign it in next month?

That should be fine. It is your choice when you want to resign.
