Can I go to India while H1 is being processed

I heard from my employer that it can take upto 2 months to process my H1.
I was planning to go to India on H4 get my extended H4 stamped and come back within the above mentioned period.

Is it still going to be CP if i get my H1 once i am back in US?

sorry,but what is CP? COS is change of status,i assume.

No risk other than if it was a COS, it will become a CP.

Hi

I am on H4 visa and recently got it extended for 2 more years.I havent got it stamped.I had filed for H1B for this fiscal year and havent received the file no so far.I am kind of waiting for updates on this one.Myself and my husband would like to go to India for about 3 week.But we will have to get our visas stamped before entering US.

Can someone tell me if it is the right time to go to India or not.
Is it risky to go to India and come back while H1 is being processed?
