H4 to H1 Is it legal to work with receipt #?

Hi,

Can someone please tell me if i am legally allowed to work after receiving a receipt number on a Change Of Status from H4 to H1? (i worked under H1 until March of this year and converted to H4. i have H4 stamping from India currently)

--- Not possible and not allowed until the COS is approved. Kindly avoid working during this period as it may affect future status and possible problems during GC processing.

hi can you let me know how much did it cost for COS process and do we need a project and client letter to apply for change of status..i am also in the same boat in h4 and have h1 petition.want to apply for COS.please help.
