H4 Without I 797 of Principal

Hello,

My wife's H4 and my H1 visa has expired, however we got our extension letters and I94 until 2011.

My wife is planning to go to India for a visit, I cannot find my I 797 however I have photocopies of my I 797. We have the original I 797 of my wife.

Is it going to be difficult for my wife to get her h4 stamped without my original I 797?

Probably not as they can verify it through PIMS. However, the consulate usually suggests one to bring the original. If asked, she can say that the original is misplaced. Go ahead and ask your employer to apply for a duplicate ASAP.
