  • Entering into US on H1B

    Hi Friends,

I have got my H1B stamped in May,2008.
Because of the recssion, I am not able to move to US.
I am working fo a company in India.
    Can I travel US now?
Will there be any problem in Port Of Entry If I travel to US now?
Is any of your friends with similar situation entered into US?
If yes, it will helpful for me if you post their experience.

    Thanks,
    Sreenivas

There is no reason to worry as long as your visa is still valid and you have a project.

      Entering into US on H1B

      Hi,

What type of questions can I expect at Port of Entry?
What type of documents I have to get from my employer?

I came to know that they are directly calling to my employer.
      Is it true?

      Thanks,
      Sreenivas

        >>>>> The questions would usually be about your project, employer and client (If at all your work for a client). Better know the address of the place where you will be staying (No hotel address). And some usual questions like how long you intend to stay in the United States etc.

What type of documents I have to get from my employer?

        1) Your original approval notice (I-797) --> You might probably have it with you already, unless you have returned it after your visa stamping.
        2) Employement verification letter
        3) Client letter (If you are going to work for a client)

I came to know that they are directly calling to my employer. Is it true?

        >>>>> Might have happened to very few individuals. They would do that only if they are really suspious about one's job profile. As long as you have a project, there is nothing to worry. Have the phone number of you manager handy, just in case.

Don't attempt to enter unless your employer asks you to.
