Question on Restamping H1 Visa within USA

Hello

I hold an Indian passport and I have my stamped H1 visa on the passport expired since September 09. I have a valid I-797 (H1 approval form from my new employer which is valid until the end of Sept 10.

I know I have to restamp my visa from home country but I also heard that it could be done inside USA. Please let me know if that is possible to be done here.

You don't need visa if you are already in US.
Visa is only for entry to US.

You would have got new I-94 attached to your new I-797, so you can stay until that time in US.

I agree we do not need a visa if I am staying here. But I do want to take vacation in the month of Jan. And I was wondering if I could do this Visa stamping here inside the states.

You can't get US visa from within US.
You can get it from Canada/Mexico. Or back in India before returning.
