H1 stamping expiring 7 days before US entry with 3 yr extn

I am planning to make a visit to India early next month.
My current H1 Stamping is expiring on 31st Dec 2009.

I have an approved I-797 H1 extension till Dec-2012.
Do I need to go for the visa stamping interview,
if I come back to US on 25th Dec?

Has anyone gone through such a similar situation?

Any advise is appreciated

You can enter as long as the visa is valid. By showing the extended H1B petition, you will get an I-94 till the petition validity.
