H1-B & I-94 Extended past 6th year

We appreciate if anyone is having a same situation as mine and how it was addressed. 6th expires in Jan 2005. LCA was filed in dec 2003. H1-B, VISA stamped in passport and I-94 is valid upto Dec 2005. Do I need ti file for a 7th Extension in Dec 2004, and if filed will the INS apporve the 7th year H1-B, when I already have the 7th year valid H1-B, valid Visa and valid I-94.
