H1 transfer Pending. How long can employer continue to pay?

Hi,

Thanks for resolving queries in the past.

I change my employer in Jan 2009 and the status till date is still pending. We applied for H1B normal petition for H1B (not premium processing). In April, 2009 we received query for more documents. We submitted those documents in April, 2009. We submitted letter in Oct 2009, for the status. We have not received any response. What should we do now. Just waiting or some action is required.

Also important question is how long can I continue stay in this country with status pending. Also is there any problem for my employer to pay me with petition pending. he suspect and planning to stop payment from Jan 2010 if this is the case. Although I have the project till end of 2010 with client J P Morgan. Your help will be highly appreciated.
