  • H1B stamping- Consular processing

    Hi All,

My H1 got approved with consular approval. I need to go for H1 stamping . I have few questions

Status: On CPT working at End client location. My employer sponsored H1.

    1) Do in need to got to home country (India) for stamping Or Canada/Mexico ?
    2) Is there any time frame to attend for stamping
    3) Can i change the consulate office in DS-160 form

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

It's generally recommended to schedule visa appointment in your home country, because if for any reason your passport get's held up at the consulate (e,g. admin processing) you will be stuck in Canada/Mexico

There is no defined time frame per se. But plan for at-least staying 3-4 weeks and schedule the interview in your first week.

    3) Can i change the consulate office in DS-160 form
Yes, That's the first option you select.

Thanks for the information. I booked the slot in India
I have couple of questions. I did second masters and worked on CPT. H1 got approved under consular approval. that means I need to go to home country for visa stamping.
What would be the best answer if VO asked about second masters
Completed 4 semesters in second masters

      Please advise
