H1B in Mumbai Wait time

I will be going to mumbai on dec 20th I plan to go to the VFS to give my documents. I will be applying for H1 BVisa Stamping for the first time . I checked online that the appointment dates available rightnow is from Jan 19. My question is Is it really true , Is there really such a huge wait time. I already have a return ticket for 14th jan. this is really scaring me. Any input on this will be really appreciated

actually, that is the wait time if you book an appointment through the web.

You can also book ur appontments through offices of visa-services(US Visa Application Center ) in pune/mumbai and some other cities ( check the visa-services site for locatin of these offices)

You can get a december appointment right now if you ask ur relatives/family to apply for an appointment at thier office.You will need to mail ur documents ASAP to India to somebody who can take these to the visa-services office and get you an interview slot. ( my wife went to the pune office last week and was given an appointment for december 1st)
