  • F2 to H4 conversion

Me and my spouse are currently on F1 and F2 respectively. I plan to travel outside US next month to get H1B stamped (first time) but she is not traveling. What will be her status when I re-enter US on H1B ?If she is still considered F2, will she face issues at her H4 interview later on at an abroad consulate ?

I can give some insight into your second question. I went back to my home country on F2 while husband got H1b (while he is in US) and I faced my H4 interview on June 20th. (Please also note that I have had two F2 rejections which may have caused my issue). I was given form 221g and it has been more than 3 weeks with my passport held in the embassy. It is a long wait as administrative processing takes days to weeks to years. You may not have any issue and be granted H4 easily but just to let you know that this is also a common possibility. Also, I have heard its best to interview together. Good luck!
