H1b cancelled after grace period even keeping status?

I got my H1B in 2018 and started my family based greencard in January 2019.

I was laid off on april 22nd and my grace period is over.
I’m “on status” because of my greencard process.

If I receive an offer, can the employer still do an h1b transfer or I can only work with my greencard Work Permit (which is still pending)? Is my H1B still valid (expires only on 2021) after the grace period?

I discovered I'm in a "limbo".

Can't do h1b transfer since my grace period is over. I'd be able to do the consular h1b, but to do the consular h1b I'd have to leave the country. I can't leave the country because I have a pending I-485, and that would be considered "abandonment" of my greencard process.
