  • DS160- Questions -Present Employer

    Hi Friends,

    Good Day!

I have a few Q's regarding the DS160 form. Please help.

    My Situation here:

I applied H1B for april 2008 and have an approval notice. I was in INDIA when i applied for the VISA. But now I am on deputation to singapore and work for ABC Company(singapore branch) for past 3 years and I get my salary in SGD. But my parent company is in India (Same ABC Company, Chennai Branch). Setup is like: I will return to India and join ABC chennai branch once my assignment is over in Singapore.

Q1 : Who will be my present employer ? Do I have to indicate both entities as my employer's ? Is there an option for the including both company?

Q2 : How can i represent my monthly salary? Should it be SGD*exchange rate (to convert to local currency)

Q3 : Have you belonged to, contributed to or worked with any professional, social or charitable organisation ? -- Does this mean my employment . I am confused since "professional" is used

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks and Regards,
    SwasRang

    1. Whoever pays you salary is your employer.
    2. That is fine.
    3. No.

      Hi Admin friend,

Thanks a lot for clarifing my doubts.

      One more clarification pls...

Along with my main salary in singapore ( i have paid tax in sg for 3 years), i also get basic salary in india( though within the no-tax limit).

So, above being the case, shall still mention present employer as ABC - SG branch ...

      Thanks in advance!

      Regards,
      Swasrang

            DS160- Relatives

            Hi,

I need one more clarification for filling up DS160

            1. Do you have any other relatives in US?

My uncle's (Dad's brother) family is living in US( i guess they all have become citizens)

Do i have to say yes or no?

I have already answered one q as no (i do not have bro/sis/finacee/parents living in US)

            Please advise.

            Regards,
            Swasrang
