New H1B Visa Stamping

Hi all,
My wife got approved H1B petition for the first time and we are planning to go for stamping. Petition is approved just for a year. What would be the visa period? Will it be for 3 years or just a year only?
I see the wait time is 23 days. Is there a chance to request for an earlier date as my kids need to join the school there. Thanks for your time and advice.

It will be for 1 year from petition start date to end date.

Are you booking appointment by own or by employer?

If you are booking then could you please check what is first available date in Mumbai in Schedule appointment calendar?
